This page will guide you through the steps required to commission your unique portrait.
Step 1. Photography
Portraits are created from photographs. Choose a photograph of your pet which captures their character and clearly shows their coat colour and eyes/expression. The photos need to be hi-res, ideally larger than 2MB. Photos work best if they are taken outdoors in natural light and if possible, take several different shots to be sure to really capture your pet. If you're not sure which photo would work best, Victoria will be happy to advise.
If you supply photographs taken by anyone other than yourself, you must obtain specific permission to use them to comply with UK copyright law (even if you have purchased them from a professional photographer).
Step 2. Portrait Size
Decide on the size would like. This will be guided by your wall space and budget. The sizes listed are image sizes only and framing & mounting will add several inches to the overall size. A full range of the most commonly requested sizes are listed here but Victoria is happy to work to your requests.
Step 3. Colour or Graphite?
Portraits are created in a choice of either graphite or professional grade coloured pencil. Information regarding each medium and a gallery of portraits can be found here - graphite or coloured pencil.
Step 3. Contact
Contact Victoria with your request and any questions you may have plus any extra information about your commission such as a requirement for completion by specific date. Victoria will always do her best to accomodate requests for special occasions but booking early is advised.
Step 4. Confirmation
Victoria will advise on suitability of your photos, portrait size and medium, confirm price if you have any additional requests such as extra animals/backgrounds etc and the planned completion date. An invoice will be created to confirm the details and clearly set out everything that has been agreed.
Step 5. Payment
A 50% deposit will confirm your booking in Victoria's diary with the balance payable on completion. If your portrait is booked more than six months in advance then a 25% deposit will confirm your place, with an additional 25% due when the portrait is started, and balance on completion. Payment by instalments (usually four) is also available. Please ask for details.
Step 6. Completion
Victoria will advise when the portrait is underway and provide 'work in progress' updates by email or via her Facebook page (your choice). Once the portrait is complete and the balance paid, it will be posted to you fully insured by Royal Mail Special Delivery.
